Hand-raked and properly repointed brickwork in lime or sand-cement to match the original.
Repointing is a job that's done badly more often than not. Joints get ground out with an angle grinder, the brick edges get chewed up, and the new mortar is the wrong mix. We rake out by hand to proper depth, brush the joints clean, then repoint in lime mortar or a sand-cement mix to match what was there. Weatherstruck, bucket-handle or flush, your call.
For older or listed properties where the original mortar is lime-based. Hot-mixed or NHL lime to match colour and behaviour. Brick faces stay clean.
For modern brickwork in standard sand-cement. We test the colour against the existing pointing before mixing the rest of the bag.
Weatherstruck, bucket-handle, recessed, or flush. Whatever the rest of the wall is doing, we match it so the repair doesn't stand out.
No angle grinders chewing up the brick edges. Joints raked out by hand to 15 to 20mm depth, properly, so the new mortar has something to bite into.
If you grind out joints with a disc cutter you damage the brick edges and the mortar can't key in deep enough. Hand-raking takes longer but the repair lasts decades, not a year or two.
Most pre-1900 brickwork is lime, and using cement on lime brickwork can cause the bricks to spall. We'll test a small area before quoting and recommend the right mix.
Yes. We mix sample boards and let them dry before agreeing the final colour, because mortar dries lighter than it goes on. We won't pick the mix without showing you first.
A 3-bed semi front and back is usually 5 to 8 days, scaffold up. We'll factor in scaffold hire and weather days in the written quote.
Tell us a few details about the repointing you're planning. We'll come back within 24 hours, usually the same day, and get a site visit booked in for the week.
Most jobs start with a 5-minute call so we can work out if we're the right fit and when we could realistically get on site. No hard sell.
